Happy Mother’s Day!

I just wanted to take a little time out to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of the special women out there and also to our angels looking down on us from heaven. I come from a family of a lot of women and they all hold a special place in my heart. Where would we be without their unconditional love, patience, wisdom and advice? (Answer: Nowhere.)

The picture above is a floral arrangement I put together for my amazing Mom. There’s no one like her…honestly and truly, the BEST.

Enjoy your day ladies! You DESERVE it! ❤️

New Year, Fresh Start

First off, Happy New Year! I know it’s been awhile, but I’m back…again! I hope everyone’s 2016 is starting off well. There are so many cliché things I could say, but I really do feel like this year is going to be amazing, not just for me, but for all of you as well! Isn’t the old adage, “speak it into existence?” I am overflowing with positivity and a renewed faith.

I capped off the end of 2015, standing beside my college best friend at her gorgeous Floridian wedding (see pic above of the venue, at sunset). I represented well as her maid of honor, or I made the best attempt (almost forgot her vows in my purse). Lol! It was a great way to bring in the new year, for sure.

With that said, I really do feel like I have a fresh start not just personally, but also with my blog. I have plans to re-vamp and streamline my content. I’m also actually learning to use my fancy Canon camera (finally!), so hopefully there will be less iPhone pictures and more quality ones. This is all a work in progress and I hope you guys stick with me along the way.

xo,

Lex

The inspiration is back… Ready? Set. GO!

The Notebook.

After many months, I am glad to say my blog-writing hiatus is now over! Ugh. I know, I know…it’s been entirely too long and I have definitely neglected “Lex of Hearts.” Months have gone by and honestly I was second guessing myself, thinking that what I’ve started here wasn’t really “good enough,” which also led me to feel a bit uninspired. I read tons of blogs and they all look so polished, full of great content and photography. However, I’ve also learned in these last few months that this blogging life is real and like most things, this takes practice and time to create something meaningful enough to share with the world.

A few people have asked me about my blog — “Are you still writing?”,What’s your website?”, “Your last post was in January!” Hanging my head in shame (a little), not really wanting to answer because my answers seem so mediocre, ya know? But at this point, I’ve realized that this is a forum to just be me, in a written/visual format. It’s crazy to think that even the few people that do comment and re-tweet my post links value what I create here and this has helped me get back in the swing of things. My confidence is up and I’m ready to give this a-go! So, to my readers, I thank you for sticking around, being loyal and anticipating the greatness that will soon follow (ha!).

P.S. I’ve also changed up the look of my blog. It’s a little more flashy & bold, but still fun. You like?

Xo,

Lex

Fall-ing for this season!

20130924-220558.jpg

The summer is now behind us and I’ve definitely been M.I.A. from blogging (my bad!) However, I’ve had an amazing summer–filled with cookouts, new friends, road trips and all around fun experiences. I am back on the wagon…the writing wagon, that is!

Well, it’s a new season and not to sound so cliché, but I am excited for all things Fall. Of course pumpkins will be plentiful, cooler weather, football season (which I’m actually excited for because I’ve been educated on the game, a bit) and perhaps…a new me? Again, another cliché saying, but it’s somewhat true….

New season, new hair color! A bit anti-climatic, but I love it and wanted to share with my wonderful readers. (See handy-dandy iPhone selfie below)

Who else is excited for Fall? Share your favorite Fall things!

P.S. Special thank you to my bestie/hairstylist extraordinaire, Jen, for my new look 🙂

Happy 2013!

Happy New Year 2013

It’s officially 2013! Happy New Year to you all!

I spent the holidays with my amazing family and friends. The vacation time off was much-needed, but now it’s back to reality.

A new year has arrived and according to “tradition”, resolutions should be in order, right? It’s a time to self-reflect and perhaps make improvements with life decisions. For me, I would like to turn words into actions. I will be 30 years old this year (in 2 weeks) and more than ever, do I feel revived to just live life and have a ball doing it. There will be more traveling, fitness, becoming more centered with my spirituality, a more active blogger and also learning new ways to develop my many passions into something tangible.

Here’s to an exciting year to come–I’m confident it will be a fabulous one!

Do you have any new resolutions or plans to accomplish great things this year? Let me know!

P.S. Thanks for continuing to be a Lex of Hearts reader. It’s much-appreciated!

All you can do…

Not to sound too cliché, but in life we encounter obstacles.  It’s up to us to decide which route to take to overcome these obstacles. The most difficult part is trying not to dwell on what could be or what should be…it’s better to just let go, think positively and trust that everything will work out in your favor.

With that said, I found this quote online which makes perfect sense. Do you agree?

“Keep working on love”

I recently attended a birthday party and met a vivacious young lady who had a very intriguing arm tattoo that read “Keep working on love.” I felt a little embarrassed by asking to snap a quick picture of her tattoo, but those four words really struck a chord with me…and she was more than happy to oblige.

In all facets of everyday relationships, whether they be with a significant other, with parents, siblings or friends, and even a higher power, they all require work to continue the loving bond and connection. This work entails action on our part. Sometimes this may be a small struggle, but totally worth the effort. We can all say the words “I love you” but are we actually showing it?

As we enter this Easter weekend, you will be surrounded by family and good friends. Whether it be a big or small gesture, I encourage you to act on love…

Enjoy your weekend!
